Don't let this iconic animal die

The Gray Wolf was brought to the edge of extinction in the USA by the early 1970's. A pair of wolves were brought from Canada in 1979 to try and bring the wolf back to the USA. By the end of 1994 there were about 48 wolves living and breeding in the National Parks. More wolves were brought from Canada, and slowly, the Gray Wolf has been returning to it's ancestral lands. At this time, there is estimated to be less than 1500 breeding wolves in less than a handful of National parks in the USA.
The wolf is a gentle carnivore, forming family group packs where pairs mate for life. They exhibit love and affection for each other, they're curious and intelligent and even have a complex language. They are a deep part of the North American landscape, myth and folklore. They are spirit guides, protectors and totems.

The Bush administration, with its track record of death for profit, wants to de-list Gray Wolves from the Endangered Species Act. If this senseless plan moves forward, both Wyoming and Idaho are planning to use aerial gunning, baiting and trapping and general hunting to exterminate hundreds of wolves. With the slow rate of wolf breeding, this will bring them back to extinction levels in under 5 years. But of course, the sale of licenses will bring in a lot of money. So... that's OK... right?

A human is more likely to be struck by lightning than harmed by a wolf. In fact, you're far more likely to be killed by a deer than a wolf. You're definitely much more likely to die because of a decision made by your government. So in many ways, you're just like the wolf.
