Conquistador de las Tinieblas by thedarkcloak Conquistador de las Tinieblas by thedarkcloak
This one has been sitting around for quite some time, and longer still in the ol' noggin'.
In fact, you can even say that the image has been haunting me since I was quite young, as I vividly remember a rembrandt-like painting that an older lady, a family friend, had hanging on her living room wall. It was a large, foreboding painting of an equally dreadful looking conquistador, covered mostly in shadow. You could make out a bit of his mustache, a gleam of his amber coloured eye (without actually seeing the eye ), and tinges of red, orange, and brown bringing out his aged and pocked armour from the darkness.

Of course, my imagination likely embellished it up just a tad, and what you see here is a partial result of that embellishment. Not surprisingly... my Barbarian Dead character is likely linked to this imagery somehow.

Anyways, I really wanted to do something reminiscent of the old painterly masters, while trying to avoid the 'it's digital photoshop' look as much as possible. All done and finished in Painter 8.

Thanks for givin' it an eye-over.

Wow! Amazing work! Love it!

I was wandering if you could let me us this image for an Android game called "Kingdoms of Myth", it's turn based strategy game based on a fantasy World. You can find a little bit more info in this rough website made by my colleges [link] (Sorry for the bad English). Of course you will have full credits of your work and link to your webpage if you want :)

Lot of thanks for your time ;)

man there is a lot to say about this one
first of all thats really cool that its been hanging around in your head since youve seen it when you were younger
And not only that but to bring it onto the screen without refrence other than your must have made an impression on you thats for sure
the flag really is awesome it looks like fabric that I keep thinking is about to move
the sky is a wicked arangement of colors one hell of a storm it seems and it really seems to add to the mood of this work.
the look of the man itself is really quite interesting blurry... just enough that you can see him but makes him imposing ... nice touch on that
all in all I would say that this is a really nice addition to your never ending gallery of ever improving greatness... keep it up

ah yeah, it's a good idea to save your brush collection. I made a custom set for everything I do, but sometimes even that is not enough, so i'm always adding to it.

tip: the little triangle button in the brushes drop down, go to where it says Save Brush Palette or something along those lines...
to save individual brushes, you can fiond the command in that same menu. :)

ohoho, merry everyone as that picture certainly is moody, moodier than a bag of 14 year old goths who listen to moby... that makes no sense, but your piece has atmosphere and . . . dare i say?... mood?

You did an awesome job! I thought it was a painting until I looked at the description on the side! It is very painterly looking. The whole darkness feel about it makes me think of paintings I learned in art history. It is amazing and gets a fav from me :D keep up the awesome work! :glomp:...GLOMP!!
